About The Artist
A recognised master of vocal repertoire of persian art music, Nasrollah Nassehpoor was born in Ardabil, in 1940. His father was an amateur Garmon (keyboard instrument) player and his mother an amateur Qaval (frame drum) player. Through his parents he became familiar with Azerbaijani folk and art music.
When he moved to Tehran, he started learning vocal repertoire of persian art music under Mahmud Karimi at the National Music Institute. There he become familiar with Ali Akbar Shahnazi (Persian Tar virtuoso), Soleyman Amir Ghasemi (Singer) and Sa'id Hormozi (Setar player), in this way he had the chance to develop his musical studies. He then worked with Abdollah Davami (the master of vocal repertoire of persian art music), who had a great influence on his musical development.
Nassehpoor's vocal has a unique timbre, which coupled with his creative talent and his rich Azeri musical background, makes him an outstanding performer. He teaches since many years singing and the vocal repertoire of persian art music.

Abdollah Davami (1889-1980) was a Persian vocal master. He studied vocal rhythmic pieces (songs) and Tonbac under Haji Xan and Sama Hozur, principal repertoire of Persian vocal music under Ali Xan Nayeb os-Saltane and principal repertoire of Persian instrumental music under Mirza Hosseyn Qoli. He collected and arranged his own interpretation of principal repertoire of Persian vocal music. This repertoire seems to be his most important masterpiece of art.
